I am struggling to find quality leads in recruitment - any tips from the pros?

Main Post:

I recently started working in recruitment, and despite seeing so many job seekers out there, I’m finding it surprisingly tough to generate solid leads. It feels like there’s a huge demand for jobs, but connecting with the right candidates or clients isn’t as straightforward as I expected.

A bit about my situation: I work for an agency that focuses on US-based clients, and I’m still learning the ropes. If you’ve been in recruitment for a while, what strategies or resources helped you find quality leads when you were starting out? Are there any tools, platforms, or networking approaches you swear by?

Would love to hear your stories, tips, or even the mistakes you learned from. I would also love to connect with job hunters and start-up companies looking for employees. This will help me examine the current needs of the market and align ours with it.

Tip!

Answer applied below

The word "tip" has many meanings but I usually use it for two meanings - 1) a simple knowledge or hack 2) a small money for gratitude. I'm quite not sure when to use a singular form and a plural form.

  1. Here are some tips (knowledge) for you.
  2. I left a (out:some) tip on the table but they are small. (Money)
  3. Can you give me some tips (knowledge) about how to handle this device?
  4. Thank you for the (out:your) tip (knowledge).
  5. Our store prohibits giving tips(money) to the servers.
  6. I don't like tipping (money)
  7. Tipping is an American culture.
  8. Here's your tip (money).
  9. Here is a tip for you (knowledge).
  10. (verb form?) Tipping (money) is mandatory.

Can I assume it's safe to always say tips (plural) in both meanings?

In the sentences above, correcting any errors or suggesting better expressions will be also appropriated. Thank you in advance.

Top Comment: Yes, either usage of the word 'tip' may be pluralized. You may give out 'tips' to people to help them learn, and you may hate the practice of leaving 'tips' for waiters. I left some tips on the table but they are small. I would leave this as singular 'tip' since whatever money you leave on a table is really all part of one singular tip. Tip is an American culture. Should be 'tipping'. Using the gerund (-ing form) is the usual way in English to turn a verb into a noun. Same for sentence 6. Other than that, all your sentences are fine!

Is TiPS a scam?

Main Post:

I recently moved to a new state and was asked by my new employer to be recertified. My current cert DOES explicitly say what state it is for, and the TiPS website heavily suggests that it is per state. But this shit is exactly the same down to the spelling errors and poor grammar. Are we all getting scammed here?

Top Comment: tips is definitely a scam, yes, but if your employer requires it there's not much you can do

Ones a verb, the others a noun.
